Deaths in Israel/US hit on girls’ school now at 165 as rescue operations called off, while three US jet fighters were show down in a friendly-fire incident

Iranian officials said on Monday that the recovery operation at a primary school hit by an Israeli-US strike in Minab city in the southern Hormozgan province has concluded, with the latest death toll at 165.

Minab Governor Mohammad Rademahr said in statements carried by Iranian state media that emergency response teams, members of local voluntary paramilitary groups, and residents took part in the debris-removal operations at Shajareh Tayabeh School.

The school was struck on Saturday morning, when the US and Israel launched large-scale bombings across multiple provinces in Iran.

The attack struck the school while classes were underway, reducing the building to rubble.

Three US soldiers were killed when Iran struck a base housing American troops in Kuwait on Sunday, military officials have confirmed to The New York Times. One more died from injuries suffered in the incident.

US officials confirmed a further five service members were seriously wounded  and several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions in the attack. The fatalities were the first for the United States since the joint attack with Israel on Iran on Saturday morning.  Several US aircraft have also

Iran fired missiles at Camp Arifjan, in Kuwait, destroying large parts of an army unit managing housing for troops in the country, say military officials.

On Monday, three US military jets were downed. US Central Command said Monday that Kuwait mistakenly shot down the three American fighter jets.

“At 11:03pm ET, March 1, three U.S. F-15E Strike Eagles flying in support of Operation Epic Fury went down over Kuwait due to an apparent friendly fire incident,” Central Command said in a statement.

“During active combat—that included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones — the Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defences,” it added.

Iran’s retaliatory strikes also killed at least nine people in Israel, and four others in other countries in the region.

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, US-Israeli strikes have killed at least 555 civilians and wounded over 1 000 others.

Despite the losses and the increasing threats from US President Donald Trump, Iran is showing no sign of giving up.  In fact, well-placed sources say Iran has declined a proposed ceasefire offer from the US.

Iran has launched hundreds of retaliatory missiles at a wide range of American and Israeli targets in the region. It has also launched strikes at Arab countries it considers allies of the United States, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait.

In the past, Iran has given warning before launching retaliatory strikes and made known which bases housing US troops it intended to hit. This time, the strikes have been widespread. More than 549 drones, 165 ballistic missiles and two Iranian cruise missiles targeted the United Arab Emirates, the Emirati defense ministry said on Sunday. Most were intercepted but 21 drones struck civilian targets, the ministry said.

US military officials warned on Sunday that the military has been burning through Tomahawk missiles and other munitions.
