UAE moves to unlock $10bn for Iran, sources say

The United Arab Emirates has reportedly agreed to unlock billions of dollars for Iran in a tactical shift aimed at easing regional tensions.

According to Reuters, four sources said the deal could release at least $10 billion to Tehran, with an initial $3 billion tranche already sent.

The agreement comes after weeks of Iranian attacks on the UAE during the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran.

A source said the deal also includes the revival of economic ties between Abu Dhabi and Tehran.

A UAE official said the Gulf state was seeking to ease regional tensions, while another source said Iran had sought similar arrangements with two other Gulf states.

The move comes as broader negotiations between Tehran and Washington enter their final stages, with diplomats saying the talks could involve the release of tens of billions of dollars in Iranian oil revenues frozen in foreign banks under U.S. sanctions.
