{"id":449,"date":"2026-01-13T08:08:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T08:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/1newsnetwork.com\/?p=449"},"modified":"2026-02-02T21:57:23","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T21:57:23","slug":"malaysia-considers-legal-action-against-x-over-user-safety-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1nationmedia.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/13\/malaysia-considers-legal-action-against-x-over-user-safety-concerns\/","title":{"rendered":"Malaysia considers legal action against X over user safety concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-post-excerpt\"><p class=\"wp-block-post-excerpt__excerpt\">Communications minister cites harmful content, Grok chatbot misuse as authorities weigh court action <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n<p>By Islamuddin Sajid<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ISTANBUL (AA) &#8211; Malaysia is considering legal action against US social media platform X for failing to ensure user safety, local media reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is \u201cweighing taking X to court,\u201d citing concerns over harmful content circulating on the platform, according to Free Malaysia Today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are weighing taking X to court,\u201d Fahmi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His remarks came after Malaysia blocked the Grok chatbot over its alleged misuse to generate manipulated images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malaysia and Indonesia have become the first countries to block Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Elon Musk\u2019s xAI, citing concerns that it was being used to create manipulated, sexually explicit and non-consensual images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in 2023, Grok is available through X and allows users to ask questions and generate content.
