Saudi Arabia has suspended travel by its citizens to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan as part of precautionary measures against the spread of Ebola.

The Kingdom has also suspended the issuance of all visas and entry for travellers arriving from the three countries, including those who travelled through third countries after spending time in any of them within 21 days of entering Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Health Authority, Weqaya, said its health monitoring and response system is operating continuously in coordination with national and international bodies to protect citizens, residents and visitors.

The Kingdom had already tightened screening measures for travellers from neighbouring countries near the outbreak areas, including Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Republic of Congo.

Weqaya said Saudi Arabia’s public health situation remains stable, with no confirmed or suspected Ebola cases recorded since the measures were introduced.
