Video footage showing a 20-year-old woman in a hijab being run down by a car in Abbey Wood, south London, earlier this week has been attributed to the rising levels of hate crime against Muslims in the United Kingdom.
5Pillars reported that the woman incredibly survived the horrific collision, and her condition was deemed not to be life-threatening or life-changing. The Metropolitan Police are now looking to identify the driver and have appealed to the public for information.
No arrests have been made so far, and detectives are considering “any possible motive”, although locals fear a targeted attack.
Statistics reveal that for the year ending March 2025, there were 4478 incidents of hate crime specifically targeting Muslims.
Incidents include attacks on mosques, schools, and Muslim-owned businesses.
Recently, a heavily armed man was intercepted as he tried to enter a mosque in Manchester during Ramadan evening prayers.
